Bittersweet
Bittersweet is a story about pleasant and happy on one side, and painful and sad on the other. A story about the feelings of longing for something, incompleteness, fun, joy and fulfilment at the same time.
The motif in the artwork series is a female figure, which is also a portrayal and the personification of the artist herself. The figures with a grotesque expression, who look comically distorted and a bit ugly, depict bittersweet pieces of her personal life; bittersweet smiles, bittersweet memories, bittersweet self-perception, and bittersweet feelings.
Graphic prints and drawings with expressive and playful aesthetics invite the viewer to enter the Bittersweet world through nudity, vulnerability, roughness, friskiness, simplicity, and intimacy. Nevertheless, the visual language is not narrative, meaning it gives the viewer the opportunity to make their own interpretations.
