Stripped
Stripped is a series of three collagraphy prints that reflects on the expectations placed on women, particularly on the female body. It explores how a woman is supposed to appear in order to please the male gaze: confident, desirable, flirtatious, naughty and ready. At the same time, Stripped also expresses the discomfort and unease of being placed in such a position, exposed and expected to fulfill such a role. One of the graphics in the series serves as a counterpoint, appearing more confused and less self-assured than the others. The round, stylised faces, with a slightly clownish quality, introduce a subtle sense of humor. Yet the addition of tears reveals an emotional undercurrent, symbolising not happiness but inner pain. Despite all these emotions, Stripped remains strong.
