Vulpes’ self-published zines are small-edition and independently produced publications. Some of these zines serve as conclusions to her graphic series, including sketches, writings, and materials connected to the related body of work. Others collect various drawings and ideas that are not directly tied to any particular project. For Vulpes, these zines represent a form of artistic expression that exists outside traditional gallery spaces, offering a more personal and accessible way to share her work. Together, they form an ongoing and experimental exploration of her artistic process.
Cake
The zine wraps up the graphic series Cake. It brings together sketches, photographs and parts of screen printed self-portraits. It can be read as continuation of the series or as a standalone reinterpretation of the concept.
Hand-stitched with the insert of cake doilies that add a tactile element to the listing experience.
This series is a playful representation of self-love through an object or celebration and sweetness – cake.

Horror Copy
“Groza” is the Slovenian word for horror. The adjective “grozna”, derived from this noun, can in dialect also mean of poor quality. Therefore, “grozna kopija” became horror copy. The zine was done with an old photocopier which narrated the concept. And since it was October, a spooky month of vampires, ghosts, skulls and coffins, the content for this zine was pretty much obvious from the start.
Each copy, slightly different because of a demonic photocopier, features drawings made by Sonja Vulpes and her niece Lija.
